Spotlight: Nebraska AG Doug Peterson

Areas of focus since taking office have included:

  1. Combatting human trafficking by creating clearer, tougher laws against human trafficking and establishing a task force to coordinate the state’s response to human trafficking in Nebraska.
  2. Supporting parents with digital programs that help their kids navigate the digital highway.
  3. Making available Consumer Protection Kits to help Nebraskans avoid scams, stay safe and stop fraud.

Professional background: Doug Peterson was elected as Attorney General in 2014. Early in his career, AG Peterson was a Lincoln County Attorney, where he prosecuted both criminal and civil cases. From 1988 to 1990, he served as an assistant AG, representing the state in employment law matters and tort litigation. In 1990, AG Peterson entered private practice, where he worked until his election.

Education: AG Peterson received a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Nebraska, and his J.D. from Pepperdine University.

Personal: AG Peterson lives in Lincoln and is the nephew of former Governor of Nebraska, Val Peterson.
