Professional background: Matt Platkin was appointed as New Jersey Attorney General in February 2022 by Governor Phil Murphy, and confirmed by the New Jersey Senate in September 2022. Prior to his appointment, AG Platkin served as an aide and then chief counsel to Governor Phil Murphy for eight years. Prior to entering public service, AG Platkin was a litigator at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in private practice.
His priorities are:
- Collaborating with law enforcement and community stakeholders to develop resources to help combat auto thefts, violent crime, and gun violence, as well as to support survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.
- Partnering with the governor’s office, legislature and federal agencies to protect access to reproductive healthcare and abortion rights.
Education: AG Platkin received his B.A. from Stanford University, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he was an editor of the Stanford Law Review.
Personal: AG Platkin lives in Montclair, NJ with his wife, Sophia, and son, Robert.
