Spotlight: NE AG Mike Hilgers

Professional background: Mike Hilgers was elected as Nebraska’s 34th Attorney General in 2022. AG Hilgers served in the Nebraska Legislature from 2017 to 2022, holding the positions of rules chairman, chair of the executive board, and speaker. In 2015, AG Hilgers founded his own practice, Hilgers Graben PLLC, providing commercial and IP litigation services. He served earlier in his career as a judicial clerk for Edith Brown Clement, senior judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Key priorities since becoming AG:

  • Fighting federal overreach by challenging the Biden administration’s mandates and executive actions.
  • Protecting Constitutional rights.
  • Standing with local law enforcement to keep communities safe.

Education:  AG Hilgers earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Baylor University and a J.D. from University of Chicago Law School.

Personal: AG Hilgers and his wife, Heather, have four children and live in Lincoln.
