- California AG Rob Bonta announced an expansion of the California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Environmental Justice (“Bureau”), which is focused on fighting environmental injustices and protecting communities that are disproportionately impacted by environmental pollution and public health hazards.
- According to the AG’s office, the Bureau’s expansion will allow it to increase its oversight and enforcement work, with a particular focus on penalizing and preventing illegal discharges of pollutants into the air and water from facilities, and eliminating or reducing exposure to lead and other toxins in the environment and consumer products.
