- Mississippi AG Lynn Fitch has announced that she will seek the Republican nomination for governor in 2027 to replace current term limited Gov. Tate Reeves.
- Others who have announced their candidacies for the Republican primary include Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson and former House Speaker Phillip Gunn. Others reportedly considering entering the primary race include Lt. Gov Delbert Hosemann, State Auditor Shad White, former U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper, and businessman Tommy Duff.
- Fitch is the first woman to serve as the AG in Mississippi and, if elected, would be the first woman to serve as the state’s Governor.
