- There will be a runoff in both the Texas Democratic and Republican primaries for AG in May after no candidate on either side cleared the 50% threshold, extending the fight over who will succeed Ken Paxton as he runs for U.S. Senate.
- With most returns reported, state Senator Mayes Middleton led the Republican field and U.S. Representative Chip Roy ran second, sending both to a runoff; state Senator Joan Huffman and former DOJ attorney Aaron Reitz were eliminated.
- On the Democratic side, the race also appeared headed toward a runoff after state Senator Nathan Johnson finished just shy of 50%; former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski leads former FBI agent Tony Box for the second runoff slot as of this writing.
