Susanne Young Sworn In as First Female Vermont AG

  • On July 5, Democrat Susanne Young was sworn in by Governor Phil Scott as Vermont’s newest Attorney General – and the first woman to fill the post.
  • AG Young had retired from her position as Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Administration in November 2021, and previously served as Deputy AG to former AG William Sorrell, Legal Counsel to former Governor James Douglas, Deputy Treasurer, and as an Assistant AG in various state offices.
  • AG Young will serve the remainder of her predecessor T.J. Donovan’s term, who announced in June that he would be leaving the AG post to take a job in the private sector. Democrats Rory Thibault and Charity Clark, and Republican Brooke Paige will be vying for the AG seat this November.
