AGs Rokita and Uthmeier Secure Settlements with Deloitte Over Alleged Discriminatory DEI Practices

  • Indiana AG Todd Rokita has secured a $1.2 million settlement with Deloitte to resolve allegations of unlawful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices. The settlement claimed that Deloitte violated the state’s False Claims Act by allegedly certifying compliance with Indiana’s nondiscrimination requirements while continuing discriminatory employment practices based on race and sex.
  • Separately, Florida AG James Uthmeier secured his own settlement with Deloitte, also for $1.2 million, to resolve almost identical allegations involving its DEI practices and certifications to the state.
  • These settlements are the latest in ongoing efforts by some AGs to challenge what they allege to be unlawful DEI practices in state contracting. For example, in 2025, the AG’s office updated Indiana’s standard contract language to explicitly prohibit discriminatory DEI practices and implemented new policies requiring outside counsel to refrain from such programs.
