In 2016, former Attorney General Jeff Landry appointed AG Murrill as the first solicitor general for Louisiana, where she represented the state in appellate litigation at all levels of the state and federal court system. AG Murrill’s previous roles within the Louisiana Department of Justice include director of administration and director of the civil division. She also served as executive counsel to former Governor Bobby Jindal and Louisiana’s commissioner of administration. She was a United States Supreme Court Judicial Fellow from 2007-2008 at the Federal Judicial Center, and she has taught appellate advocacy and legal writing at the Louisiana State University Law Center for more than ten years.
