Pennsylvania Attorney General Resigns Following Jury Conviction

Pennsylvania AG Kathleen Kane has announced that she will resign as Attorney General on Wednesday, August 17, following her conviction this week on two felony counts of perjury and seven misdemeanor counts of abusing her power as AG.

In its verdict, the jury found that AG Kane lied under oath about her involvement in the leak of grand jury information related to a former prosecutor, and that she also lied about whether she had signed an oath to keep grand jury information confidential.

AG Kane will be sentenced within ninety days of the August 15 verdict. Counsel for AG Kane has pledged to appeal the conviction.
