FTC Announces New Healthcare Task Force

  • FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson issued a memorandum directing agency staff to form a Healthcare Task Force aimed at coordinating healthcare enforcement and advocacy across the FTC.
  • According to the memorandum, the Task Force will bring together staff from the FTC’s competition, consumer protection, and economics bureaus, along with the Offices of Policy Planning and Technology, to share resources, market intelligence, case leads, and relationships with other agencies and stakeholders.
  • The Task Force will also develop agency-wide strategies for investigations, identify amicus and statement-of-interest opportunities, and flag emerging healthcare issues and new enforcement priorities.
  • Led by representatives from the Bureaus of Competition and Consumer Protection, the Task Force will meet at least monthly, report quarterly to the Chairman, and seek to expand its membership to include other agencies and law enforcement partners, including HHS and DOJ.
