- The FTC has released its FY 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, outlining priorities across consumer protection, competition, and agency operations, while restoring mission language that it will enforce the law “without unduly burdening legitimate business activity.”
- On consumer protection, the plan says the FTC will target fraud, deception, privacy and data security issues, unlawful telemarketing, and online harms to children, including through COPPA enforcement and its new authority under the Take It Down Act. The plan also calls for expanded consumer and business education, more scam and identity-theft reporting through the agency’s online tools, and continued use of complaint data to help shape investigations.
- On competition, the FTC says it will continue investigating anticompetitive mergers and business practices, while using research, advocacy, and business guidance to promote competition and discourage unnecessary regulatory barriers. The plan also highlights collaboration with state AGs and other domestic and international partners on antitrust enforcement and competition policy.
- On operations, the FTC says it will focus on efficiency, workforce development, and information management, including tighter cost controls, procurement and space-use reforms, staff training, and IT modernization through cloud systems, automation, cybersecurity, and updated records management.
