Texas AG Investigation into Boeing Parts Supplier Takes Flight

  • Texas AG Ken Paxton has opened an investigation into Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, Inc., which manufactures and supplies fuselages for Boeing’s 737 jets, over the reported manufacturing defects associated with recent incidents involving certain 737 models.
  • AG Paxton’s Request to Examine seeks documents and communications relating to a defect identified as the Mis-Drilled Aft Pressure Bulkhead Holes Defect, workforce reductions that took place in 2020, and the termination of a specific employee. Additionally, AG Paxton is seeking documents and information relating to the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) commitments, which the AG’s office reportedly believes may be “compromising the company’s manufacturing processes.”
  • As stated in the Request, this investigation is brought under the Texas Business Organizations Code, and seeks to evaluate whether Spirit AeroSystems has engaged in any acts or conduct that violate the company’s governing documents or Texas state laws.
