He was elected to a full-term in 2022. For almost a decade, AG Bonta has represented areas of Alameda County in the State Assembly, and was the first Filipino-American elected to California’s legislature. Before joining the Legislature he was a deputy city attorney in San Francisco and a member of the Alameda City Council.
The AG is an elected position in California. AG Bonta was confirmed as AG in April 2021.
