- New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill and AG Davenport have announced coordinated efforts to reduce and eliminate junk fees in the state.
- Sherill has signed Executive Order 19, which directs state agencies to review the industries they regulate to identify and analyze the impact of junk fees on consumers and report recommendations on legislative and regulatory measures. The order gives a deadline of September 14 for Executive Branch departments to report their findings to the Governors office.
- Additionally, AG Davenport and the Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) have published an Enforcement Statement on Junk Fees calling out common junk fees in the marketplace and explaining how those fees are burdensome for everyday life and affordability. Both Gov. Sherrill and AG Davenport have published new educational materials regarding junk fees and how to file a report with the DCA.
