Florida AG Focuses on Security Camera Data Concerns

  • Florida AG James Uthmeier is investigating Lorex Technology Inc., a security camera company, over alleged national security concerns and allegations that it misled consumers about the privacy and security of using its cameras and mobile applications.
  • The subpoena seeks documents and information regarding Lorex’s ownership and structure; its relationships with third parties, including Chinese company Dahua Technology; sourcing and origins of its products’ components; and device or software vulnerabilities, breaches, or investigations, as well as any related corrective measures taken, among other things.
  • We have previously reported on other AG enforcement efforts related to concerns over companies’ alleged ties to China, including a letter from 21 Republican AGs to Congress to ban DeepSeek AI software on government devices because of the company’s alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
