Prior to his election as attorney general, AG Rayfield represented Oregon House District 16, encompassing Oregon State University and Corvallis, during which time he served as Speaker of the House for 2 years and as co-chair of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means for 4 years. Prior to his election as attorney general, AG Rayfield represented Oregon House District 16, encompassing Oregon State University and Corvallis, during which time he served as Speaker of the House for 2 years and as co-chair of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means for 4 years. His priorities as speaker and as co-chair included growing the state’s economic reserves and investing in housing, public schools and education, community safety, and access to health and behavioral health care. AG Rayfield was also a partner in the law firm of Nelson MacNeil Rayfield working primarily on behalf of consumers against insurance companies.
AG Rayfield’s 2024 campaign priorities included building safer communities and stopping gun violence, tackling substance abuse and homelessness and protecting safe, equitable access to reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare.
The AG is an elected position in Oregon.
