- Ohio AG Andy Wilson is seeking lead-plaintiff status in a securities class action lawsuit against Roblox, a video game developer, over allegations that the company has misled investors about child safety protections on its digital platform. The AGs office filed a motion to lead the case on behalf of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) and the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS). The lawsuit is seeking damages for the financial losses caused by Roblox’s alleged actions.
- The lawsuit alleges that Roblox has falsely portrayed its platform as a safe space for children while failing to implement basic protections against online predators. The suit also alleges that Roblox has advertised itself as a family friendly platform for kids, although Roblox allegedly operated an unregulated digital environment where child predators and sexual content were accessible to children.
- The complaint also alleges that deception by Roblox has fueled billions in losses for investors, including a combined $21.5 million for OPERS and STRS from October 2024 through April 2026. Additionally, after regulatory actions required Roblox to implement mandatory age verification and communication limits between adults and minors, in April 2026, Roblox announced that these safety measures caused user growth to lower its annual revenue projection by $1 billion. The lawsuit alleges that these disclosures triggered a stock drop of 18% and $6 billion in market value.
